TFSI 2.0 EA113

Gen. 1

EA113 is the base of the first generation TFSI 2.0 engines. For the timing transmision it uses a belt drive as well as a chain, located at the back of the engine, connecting the two camshafts. The engine has won multiple awards for best engine in its category and is a quite reliable source of power if treated correctly.

TFSI / TSI 1.8 / 2.0 EA888

Gen 2, 3 and 3B

The EA888 is the successor of the EA113 engines, with production starting in March 2008. Its two camshafts are now driven with a single chain from the crankshaft replacing the old belt. Another key difference is the balancer shafts having been relocated into the cylinder block itself.
